There are so many things to do and think about when you are replacing your kitchen cabinet doors. Sometimes we are so busy trying to think about all the things to do, that we forget to consider the things NOT to do through out the process.

RUSHED MEASUREMENTS/ONLY MEASURING ONCE

Measuring your doors is a pretty important factor in the equation of replacing your kitchen cabinet doors, the last thing you want to do is get your measurements wrong and end up with doors and drawer fronts that don’t fit your kitchen cabinets, therefore wasting money on items you can’t use! Take your time measuring all the items and ensure you check over all your measurements twice or even three times with a fresh mind to make sure your sizes are correct… after all, a couple millimetres can be the difference between your new kitchen cabinet doors fitting smoothly and being a disaster.

FORGET ABOUT YOUR HARDWARE

You spend a lot of time going over the colours of your kitchen cabinet doors and benchtops and even your splashbacks, trying to tie them into each other so it all goes together nicely, but don’t forget about the final touches such as your handles and hinges. Consider the style and colour of handles you want to go for on your kitchen and if they will also match the other factors of the room. Then there is also your drawer kits and hinges to think about. Are your drawer kits old and broken? Are the hinges rusty and stiff? If you are updating the face of the kitchen cabinets you might want to update these as well, especially if you are planning on selling the house soon. Soft close drawers and doors are so popular in today’s kitchens and are definitely more sought after and desired, not to mention they are a lot more affordable these days.

BUY CHEAP PRODUCTS WITHOUT RESEARCHING

There are some seriously wonderful products that are affordable these days…and then there are some not so wonderful ones. Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. If that supplier is quoting you for “top of the range” products at an incredibly cheap rate, you’re probably going to get something that will fall apart in a very short lifespan, make sure you do your research on the products they are offering and even look at reviews of the same products.
